Ever since I was a child, growing up in Brighton, I have loved escaping into books and their imaginary worlds.

So it's no surprise my whole career has been about telling stories. After reading History at Oxford University, I joined the BBC producing and directing documentaries, including Children’s Hospital, Medicine Women, Law Women and Crimewatch Files. Later, as a freelance journalist, I wrote features for magazines and the national press, including The Times and The Guardian, before moving into PR. 

But the dream to write fiction never left me. It wasn’t until my two children grew older and I moved into PR consultancy that I had more time and finally decided to sit down and write. I took the write a novel course with Nikesh Shukla at Faber Academy, the edit your novel course with Curtis Brown Creative and was longlisted for the Bridport First Novel Award in 2021.  But the more I wrote, the more I realised my passion lay in historical fiction and a whole new chapter began.  

I now live in Surrey with my husband and enjoy travelling whenever I can. I love walking by the river every day and continue to stand on one leg as I boil the kettle in eternal hope of strengthening my balance.

Wings Over Valletta is my first published novel.
